Protection from moisture on floors and walls, under tiles and slabs, under loads such as occur on terraces, balconies, in pools, in rooms with showers, bathrooms, areas with showers over bathtubs and rooms with floor siphons. Sealing of wall and floor surfaces of class A1, A2 and B in accordance with the regulated rules for issuing a certificate of completed construction activity (for example, public showers, pools, etc.), as well as loads of classes A0 and B0 in non-regulated areas according to “Instructions for the implementation of seals for linings and floorings made of tiles and boards for external and internal application”. In a putty consistency, it is also suitable to smooth out irregularities.
It is suitable for foundations made of concrete, masonry, porous concrete, plasters of groups II, III and IV, plasterboard and gypsum fiber boards, other construction boards, cement screeds, calcium sulfate self-leveling screeds, dry screeds, old tile floors and boards (glazed and polished surfaces should be matted), screeds with underfloor heating and other suitable foundations.
It is a powder with special cements, fillers, special additives and elastizers. When mixed with water, a smooth mass is obtained, suitable for application with a roller or putty, which hardens by hydration and drying. The hardened waterproofing layer is long-lasting resistant to water load and elastic.
Preparation of the base: The surface of the base can be dry or wet, but it must be strong, load-bearing and free of dissociating substances. Gypsum bases as well as hygroscopic or anhydric screeds should be primed in advance with ARDEX P 51 adhesion and priming dispersion, diluted in a ratio of 1:3 with water. Gypsum plasters must be hard, dry, single-layer with a thickness of at least 10 mm, not felted and smoothed. The penetration of moisture from the base must be excluded. Before the sealing work, the construction data must be checked.
The elastic waterproofing ARDEX S 7 PLUS can be prepared for application with a trowel or with a roller. The mixing ratio for trowel application is 15 kg powder : 4 liters of water, and for roller application 15 kg powder : 5 liters of water. To improve the quality of work, after a ripening time of about 1-2 minutes, stir once more.
Only as much sealant should be mixed as can be worked within 60 minutes. Alternative waterproofing that is in the process of hardening should not be diluted with additional water. For porous, highly absorbent substrates, ARDEX S 7 PLUS is first applied obliquely with the smooth side of a notched trowel. In this way, the pores and irregularities are filled, so that no cavities remain.
Once applied, the solution is drawn off with a 4 mm comb and smoothed with the reverse side of the comb so that a smooth surface is obtained. After sufficient hardening of the first layer, a second layer of ARDEX S 7 PLUS, with the same thickness, is applied and smoothed again. The cost of one layer of application is 1.5 kg of solution per square meter. Sandblasting of the surface is not necessary, due to the good adhesion of the material. Due to the high strength of the material, any depressions can be filled and smoothed in one operation. After the drying of the second layer after about 4 hours, subsequent laying of tiles is possible. Sealing tapes for joints and cuffs are placed in the first layer of ARDEX S 7 PLUS, and covered with the second application. To create a waterproof protective layer, two applications with a thickness of 1 mm on the dried layer are required.
When applying with a brush or roller, it is possible that more than 2 applications of the waterproofing are needed, until the required layer thickness of 2 mm is achieved. For this purpose, it is recommended to make samples in several places on the surface, the required wet thickness of the layer should not be less than 1.2 mm per application.
Laying tiles on ARDEX S 7 PLUS elastic waterproofing can be done about 4 hours after the sealing works. It should be noted that waterproofing according to DIN 18195, such as is required for terraces on residential premises, cannot be replaced by ARDEX S7.
